Our Energy Efficient Standards
At P&D Builders, every home is built to the industry's highest energy efficient standards. When you examine our building standards, you will find 2"x6" exterior walls, blown-in insulation (R-24), and an integrated weather resistant sheathing in EVERY home! These upgrades from more traditional building practices results in more comfort, quality, and energy savings, as well as a quieter and structurally superior product, for our homeowners.
ZIP SYSTEM - WATER OUT, ENERGY IN
The ZIP System panels use moisture management technology to keep water out and energy in. This innovative product safeguards your home from water intrusion, while allowing moisture vapor to escape. This integrated weather-resistant barrier system provides a layer of moisture protection and creates a tighter building envelope. Protecting your homes is our top priority.
HOW IT'S MADE
To create a ZIP System Panel, wood strands are oriented in cross-directional layers and combined with waxes and resins. Then, an integrated water-resistive overlay is added, completing an integrated wall sheathing system that provides both air and water protection. This eliminates the need for secondary house wrap, while increasing the structural integrity of the home. The end result is a tighter building envelope that reduces air leakage, creating a more energy-efficient home.
Our homes consistently produce the industry's best HERS index score. The Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index is the industry standard by which a home's energy efficiency is measured. It's also the nationally recognized system for inspecting and calculating a home's energy performance. Most Energy Star rated homes fall within the 70's. A P&D Builders energy crafted home consistently ranks within the 50's. To verify our HERS score and to ensure superior energy efficient ratings, every home we build is independently tested by a third-party. Upon completion of the independent testing, we deliver a detailed report to each homeowner that shows how their home performed.
